Birchwood, a
town in northwest Wisconsin , is about 20 minutes northeast of
Rice Lake. It is home to around 500 year-round wonderful
folks. The population swells in the summer with the arrival of
our warm-weather residents, drawn to the area's many lake and
river resorts and homes. BirchwoodBest sits just a mile east
of Birchwood on Highway 48, comfortably nestled on the channel
between Little and Big Birch Lakes . BirchwoodBest has been
operating on this site since 1904, when the first buildings
were erected for the saw-mill. For more information about the
history of BirchwoodBest, please visit our History page.
Thorp, Wisconsin , the home of our latest facility, is located
about 90 minutes southeast of our original venue. Thorp is a
beautiful and clean village that harkens images of an old
European Hamlet, with wonderful, hard working people. In
Thorp, you can find the BirchwoodBest Team doing our thing on
East Grant Street just minutes from the Downtown Shopping
District.
Since 1904,
BirchwoodBest has grown quite a bit. We now occupy 17 acres of
land along the lakes, with 130,000 square feet under roof in
Birchwood. Thorp is located on approximately 5 acres and now
has over 60,000 feet under roof, with more room for expansion.
We employ over 250 people from the surrounding area at our two
locations in Birchwood and Thorp.
B.G.
"Bud" Kennen has privately owned the Company since
1971.
